Travelling abroad post-pandemic - All you need to know if you’re planning to travel abroad this Summer.
As a swimwear brand, we know how important it is to get away. To pack a bag, turn off your phone, get into a bikini and take a dip in the sea.
This year, sadly holidays have been off the cards. We’ve been forced to stay at home, using our back gardens, or local parks as our escape. But with things slowly but surely returning to normal, we can start to think about planning that long awaited holiday.
Understandably, you may be feeling a little apprehensive about travelling, it’s been a while, so, we’re here to fill you in on all you need to know if you’re planning on travelling abroad any time soon.
Research your chosen destination.
Travel within much of the UK has now resumed and some travel abroad has been permitted. As we know, the countries that are added to the green list, are not fixed and are subject to change. It’s so important that you make sure you know the coronavirus legislation not only in the UK, but also in the country that you are travelling to. Though the UK government may say it’s okay to travel, it’s not always guaranteed that your chosen destination is accepting tourists from the UK.
Get to know the traffic light system.
We know, it’s confusing and it’s boring but this is the bible for travel at the moment. This system not only tells you where you can travel to without having to quarantine, but it also lets you know what is required of you before you fly.
You currently need to take a PCR test the day before or on the day that you fly. In some instances you will have to take a test before you fly home or once you land. It sounds daunting but, just like remembering your passport, this will soon become second nature!
Check the refund policies of your flights and accommodation.
It seems pessimistic to be planning a holiday whilst also planning for it not to go ahead, however, many have been left in less than ideal situations with cancelled holidays and non-refundable bookings!
Read up on the best places to book and your travel rights so that you’re not left out of pocket!
Try not to get too attached to your expectations.
Of course, when booking a holiday we all dream of plain sailing. An easy flight, beautiful accommodation, straight onto the beach with a pina colada in hand! But, we’re going through a global pandemic and sadly it’s going to take us a while to get back to normal.
So make sure you measure your expectations, opt for a staycation if that feels more achievable and plan everything in advance. Remember that everything is a bonus, we’ve been in and out of lockdown for over a year so just leaving the house is a win!
The only thing that you can do is follow the guidelines and plan everything in advance, the rest is out of your control.
